Burger King Scholarship
The Burger King scholarship is available to high school seniors wishing to attend a college or university within the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada. Since its conception the Burger King Scholarship has awarded in excess of ten million dollars to students throughout these countries and continue to offer right around seven hundred thousand dollars each year in scholarships to students. What is great about this scholarship is that it is offered to students graduating from many types of schools such as alternative high schools, parochial high schools, technical schools, vocational schools, as well as private or public schools.
In order to be eligible for the Burger King scholarship there are, of course, some eligibility requirements that must be met. The first is you must be a graduating senior and a citizen of the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada. You must also have maintained a GAP of at least 2.5 or greater on a scale or equivalent of 4.0. The grade point average is maintained on a cumulative rating. This is the average you have graduated with and it equates to a C in letter grade.
You must also show that you are working to help yourself. The way the Burger King scholars program defines this is by requiring your to maintain employment of at least part-time work, by working a minimum or average of about fifteen hours on a weekly basis, with a total of forty weeks each year. However, if there are circumstances that arise that may prevent you from reaching this goal, the Burger King Scholarship committee will take this into close consideration, when looking at your application.
For the Burger King Scholarship, you must also have demonstrated community involvement. The scholars program defines this by participating in extra curricular, co-curricular, or community service activities.
You and your family must also demonstrate a financial need, showing that you do indeed have a need for the Burger King scholarship and without it, you may not have the opportunity to attend college, better yourself, and work towards you chosen career.
You must obtain and submit a nomination and signature, in written form, by a school official that is unrelated to you and your family. Additionally, you must submit a written recommendation from your employer, again, this person must be unrelated to you and your family.
Finally, you must have the goal of attending an accredited school of the two year, four year, vocational, or technical type during the application school year.
