Law School Scholarships
If you have been dreaming of becoming a police officer, politician, judge, or a lawyer, law school should definitely be on your list of goals. In each of these careers, you will need to have the knowledge and training to become a success. In any of these fields of law, law school is typically a requirement, depending on the area you wish you go into. As you may know; however, law school is definitely not a cheap venture. However, to lighten the burden of costs for you and your family, there are some law school scholarships available.
There are several law school scholarships out there that you might be able to take advantage of, the main thing about these scholarships is that each one will have specific eligibility requirements and may have a focus on a certain field of study, such as criminal law or business law. While some of the available law school scholarships are generalized types, others might be geared towards specific universities or colleges. it is a good idea to have an understanding of what field of law you want to study or which college you are wanting to attend before you start your search for a scholarship.
You have many choices available to you when it comes to law school scholarships. The law school at Drake University awards greater than $2 million to students wishing to attend their law school. For any law school scholarship, you will have to meet eligibility requirements that focus on academic merit and showing need. In most cases, the scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis; however, the usual requirement is that you maintain the academic guidelines set forth by the scholarships, as well as the continued need of financial help.
One example of law school scholarships is the Dwight D. Opperman program. This scholarship is for first year college students only. It provides the student with complete tuition to the school and funds each year to cover the costs of textbooks and living expenses, to the tune of $10,000 a year. To obtain this scholarship, you will have to show proof of your academic potential, merit, and previous school records. This scholarship is available for students wishing to attend Drake University. Other scholarships available at Drake include the Cora Hayes scholarships and the LeLand Stanford-Forrest scholarship, in addition to more than 37 other law school scholarships available for the school.
